The Serious and the Fun from the Gaskins Wedding

A little over a month ago I was given the opportunity to be a part of a very special day. My good friend Trevor was getting married and not only was I going to be attending the wedding, I was also going to be their photographer. Here is how it all happened. Late last year while Trevor and his now wife, Amanda, were planning the special day he came to me asking if I would be available to photograph their wedding. Before this conversation I was not interested in doing wedding photography and just wanted to focus on family and children, but since he was a good friend I said I would help him out.

Enough of the back story, lets get to the reason you are reading this post, pictures and insight to their special day. Amanda and Trevor did not want to see each other prior to the ceremony so I had Kaci spend the morning with the girls and I spent the time with the guys. We were able to capture both serious and funny moments throughout the morning from getting ready to some posed pictures at Homestead Park in Hilliard.

Arriving at the Church didn’t stop the fun for the guys but we were able to get serious before the ceremony started. We were able to capture some great moments before the ceremony including a "no look" photo of Trevor and Amanda holding hands anxious for what was about to happen.

After the ceremony we headed over to Franklin park conservatory for some group photos the entire wedding party and then to split off to those of just Trevor and Amanda. It was so great to be able to just capture them being themselves with no one else around for the first time as husband and wife.

We finished the bride and groom photos a few minutes early to give them time to just be by themselves before arriving at the reception. The reception was a crazy fun time. Trevor wanted me to just be a wedding guest not the photographer at the reception but I was enjoying myself so much that I wanted to be able to capture their entire day.

While I was driving home from the reception I thought back to all that happened throughout the day. Being a part of the wedding day for about 12 hours and all the great moments and memories I was able to capture. Right then I realized how glad I was that I agreed to the opportunity because I had an absolute blast. From this experience, I have been able to book additional weddings and look forward to being able to capture all those special memories.

Just want to say a quick congratulations to the Gaskins family and I wish the best for their future together. Also thanks for checking out this longer than usual blog post. I have a few more behind the scenes looks at some recent sessions coming in the next week so be sure to check back!
